Circus Fun: 42FT- A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels

Do you love the magic of the circus? The amazing 42FT: A Menagerie Of Mechanical Marvels is for you.

42FT

Cirque Mechanics’ intimate, one ring circus “42FT” is a high flying, magical journey into a bygone era. A vagabond mime yearning to join the circus (Justin Therrien) silently draws the audience into the magical world of the circus. Therrien takes the audience on an unexpectedly breathtaking and fun trip to a simpler time.

On first glance, I couldn’t imagine the thrills about to unfold on such a small stage but as soon as Therrien looks into the big top I was immediately transported into his world.

The Cirque Mechanics troupe rocks the performance. Not only is the performance non stop fun it is exciting and full of athletic feats. Trapeze, high-wire acts and a mechanical horse that seems to come to life on stage “wowed” children and adults alike. Mongolian strongman Battulga Battogtokh’s act had everyone on the edge of their seats. He maneuvers a wooden log the size of a giant tree with the ease that I carry a pencil.  My son was bitiing his nails at certain points in the performance because he thought Mr. Battogtokh was going to get hurt.

Cirque Mechanics’ intimate, one ring circus “42FT” is a delight for the eyes and a feast for the soul. The costumes are bright, cheerful and authentic to the time. The show is sheer excitement with a ton of action.  We loved it but I left with a twinge of saddness and nostalgia for a time long gone and a form of entertainment that has slowly faded into the past.

Spectacle Magazine calls 42FT The greatest contribution to American circus since Cirque du Soleil” and I agree.
