Synopsis:

After his wife Lilly dies, Dr. John Dolittle hides himself away behind the high wall of his manor. His only companionship comes from a group of exotic animals that he actually speak to on a daily basis. When the Queen falls gravely ill, he is is forced to set sail in search of a cure. Joining Dolittle on the epic adventure are his hilariously rambunctious animal friends. Unfortunately there are many obstacles standing between the good doctor and the rare cure. Will the group of eccentric good guys succeed in saving the Queen? I’m not going to spoil that part for you!

Dolittle is a magical movie that the entire family will enjoy. The film is full of fascinating settings and amazing effects. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful. Vibrant colors burst off the screen in almost every scene.

The story is family friendly and chock full of adventure and hijinks. If your children are animal lovers they will especially enjoy this film. We originally saw Dolittle in the theater. My son was mesmerized from beginning to end. He has watched the film two more times looking for every detail he may have missed the first time around.

Robert Downey Jr. is spot on as the eccentric Dolittle. If you are looking for a super hero film you are barking up the wrong tree here but Dolittle is a fun and wild adventure. The film highlights the theme of animal rights to children who tend to appreciate a deep love for animals.
