With catastrophic numbers of stray dogs roaming the streets of Houston TX, twin activists and philanthropists Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist lead the charge. They take matters into their own hands to save the animals they love. As more and more strays plague the city causing a public health crisis and attacking its residents, the sisters take to the streets for a hands-on approach.
There are too many citizens not caring for their pets. This problem has gone unchecked for decades, resulting in the worst animal crisis the city and county have seen. Through community outreach and work with local shelters, the sisters rescue strays right off the street. They also run programs to provide free spay and neuter services to the community. As Tena and Tama seek to create a better life for the animals, they prove that it takes just one person caring to make a difference.

For The Animals Review:
“For the Animals” is an educational and inspirational documentary about rescue efforts for stray dogs. Although the title implies that many types of animals will be featured in this documentary, this documentary strictly concentrates on rescuing dogs.
According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter shelters yearly. The film highlights both the grassroots efforts and the multiple animal welfare organizations struggling with the complex nature of solving this overwhelming issue. While the documentary takes place in Houston, the stray dog issue is prevalent everywhere. The lessons learned apply to any area. The main point of the film is that it is not enough to find strays good homes. There has to be enough low-cost or free spay and neuter resources available in an area, to reduce the population of strays.
Twin sisters Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist are likable advocates for our furry friends. The sisters highlight the power of animal rescue groups working together. It is nice to see groups joining forces rather than competing against each other. The film does a nice job of showing what a little compassion and a lot of heart can accomplish. Keep watching through the final credits for a compilation of what these impressive women have done to help animals.
