Intrepid Museum Kids Week

The Intrepid Museum hosts an annual Kids Week Festival every February. The event is catered towards children of all ages and is not to be missed if you are living in or traveling to New York City.

Updated: The 2025 Kids Week Festival was held from Saturday, February 15th through Saturday, February 22nd.

About Kids Week:

Kids Week at Intrepid Museum is a family-friendly week of fun, educational programming, Children of all ages can explore the world of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) through a range of activities and engaging NASA displays and exhibits. There are captivating live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances by special guests, and interactive demonstrations sure to educate and inspire.
  • Saturday, February 15: Explore space through interactive demos with NASA experts, create 3D-printed souvenirs, and attend talks with NASA engineers.
  • Sunday, February 16 (ASL Day): Design space capsules, meet Star Wars characters, and hear from NASA astronaut Jeanette Epps about life on the ISS. ASL interpretation and audio descriptions are provided.
  • Monday, February 17: Learn about spacesuits, buoyancy, and ballooning.
  • Tuesday, February 18: Enjoy circus activities, LEGO building, Latin dance, and story time with children’s book authors, featuring performances from Ballet Hispánico and Pinkalicious The Musical.
  • Wednesday, February 19 (ASL Day): Create constellations, explore opera production, make candy jewelry, and attend a superhero comic workshop. ASL interpretation and audio descriptions are provided.
  • Thursday, February 20: Meet exotic animals, learn about oyster repopulation, and hear from Amelia Rose Earhart about her global flight, alongside STEM activities and exhibits.
  • Friday, February 21: Experience live animal shows, shark research exhibits, seismic engineering simulations, and robotics workshops throughout the day.
  • Saturday, February 22 (ASL Day): Meet the NYC Ghostbusters, make slime, explore LEGO robotics, and enjoy science demos.

The Intrepid Museum is located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) in Manhattan.
Public Transportation:

Directions via NYC Bus:

Take cross-town buses west. M34 (34th St.), M42 (42nd St.) or M50 (49th St.) to 12th Ave. and Hudson River. Intrepid is a short walk north from the M34 and M42. The M50 drops off directly in front of the Intrepid Museum.

Directions via NYC Subway:

Take the A, C, E, N, Q, R, S, 1, 2, 3 or 7 train to 42nd St., then walk or take the M42 West bus to 12th Ave. Walk North to Intrepid.
