Show Up Kids is a fun, interactive, improvised family show for kids 3-10 years old. Peter Michael Marino’s one man show puts a comedic twist on the traditional kids’ show.

When the headliner doesn’t show up, Pete enlists the help of the kids to write and direct the show! The kids also get to choose music and design the set. What could possibly go wrong? Depending on the audience, each performance different!

At our performance, Sally does not show up to entertain the audience. Everyone is convinced that Peter’s dog Scallion is a chicken.  The only thing that can save the day is getting dance lessons for the dog from none other than dance teacher extraordinaire “Amy Grant.”  Whoa!  These kids have some imaginations!

How does Mr. Marino get a theatre full of kids to cooperate?  That’s the easy part.  He exuberantly prompts the kids with exciting questions to move the plot along  “If you could be anything in the world, what would you want to be?”  My son who is 11 and just aged out of “Show Up Kids'” target audience hit the nail on the head “It’s like Mad Libs in a theatre.”

The Verdict:

From the wisdom of a kid:  “I wish I had seen this show when I was a little younger. Its hilarious but the jokes were a little young for me.”  Of course I am a little sad to see my son acknowledging he is getting older.  He’s a tween so he’s in that in between stage. He was still cracking up at the kiddie jokes and I was surprised to see him cackling out loud at the adult funnies as well.
