Starlink Battle For Atlas: Perfect for Tween Gamers
Ubisoft has released its new game Starlink: Battle For Atlas in time for the holiday season. We got an exclusive look at the launch party at the Nintendo Store in New York City. My son was thrilled to be invited. Little did he know he was about to enter an entire new universe of fun.
The Event:
The event at the Nintendo store at Rockefeller center was first-rate. The event space was organized into eight big screen gaming stations. Smaller Nintendo Switch stations were setup to play on while waiting to experience the magic on the big screen. Knowledgeable game developers were readily available to help guide guests through their gaming experience. It was fascinating to be able to ask questions about Starlink’s development and get the inside scoop. Did you know it can take over five years to develop a video game?
The Game:
The Forgotten Legion has taken over the Atlas star system (consisting of seven planets). Your mission is to lead a heroic team of interstellar pilots on the epic rescue adventure. My son was thrilled to learn that each player is taken on their own adventurous journey. There is no cookie cutter formula in this game. You get to customize your starship by mixing and matching pilots, wings, hulls and weapons. Your journey through the star system of seven planets is as unique and you allow it to be.
Our Opinion:
It is difficult to manage kids’ video game preferences through the tween years. My son gets frustrated that I will not let him play games like Halo because he feels that adult rated games are more action packed, Going into the event he voiced concerns that he might be bored. Once inside, two hours flew by and I heard not one complaint out of his mouth. Actually his mouth was hanging open in awe. Starlink hits the soft spot for tween gamers. Parents of tweens actually designed Starlink so that their own kids could have cool video game options. Starlink fills the void between kiddie video games and violence based games. Kids want the excitement of violent games that moms aren’t ready to expose them to.
If internet safety is your concern, Starlink will give you peace of mind. The game’s closed environment provides parents a sense of security while still offering your tween a deep level of play. There is no need to worry that your child is talking with strangers inside a game. I was looking around and the graphics on this game had every kid (and their parents) transfixed because it is that engaging!
Starlink will keep your tween interested with challenging and engaging play. The game has enough play to hold interest for a long time. Best of all, you don’t need to buy more than the starter kit to have extended play without investing more. Although some kids might like the feel of playing with the physical toys, there is actually an option to go all digital. Toys are not required for play since every pilot, starship and weapon is available digitally.
Nintendo Switch System Exclusives:
Starlink for Nintendo Switch contains super exclusive content. Pilot Fox McCloud and his Arwing Starship are exclusive to your fleet if you are playing on the Switch! I know that my son will be asking for a Nintendo Switch for Christmas this year!
