Kid’s Review:
What is the story of Christmas? Is it the story of Jesus? In the process of asking this question,The Best Christmas Pageant Ever reveals the true, non commercial, meaning of the holiday. This sweet family film is full of heart. It delivers a meaningful message without beating religion over the audience’s heads.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is perfectly cast. The children command the stage and nail their parts. The Herdman kids are particular standouts especially Beatrice Snyder (Imogene). Kynlee Heiman, who plays Gladys is a tiny, brazen breath of fresh air sans front teeth.
I surprised myself by crying at the end of the pageant. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is equally about what the community learns from the Herdmans as much as what they learn from the community This heartwarming and amusing film is sure to become a holiday favorite.
Opens in theaters on Friday, November 8th.
