The Secret: Dare to Dream follows Miranda (Katie Holmes), a young widow trying to make ends meet while raising her three children. A strong hurricane brings an enormous challenge and a mysterious man, Bray (Josh Lucas), into Miranda’s life. Bray reignites the family’s spirit but also holds an important secret, one that will change everything. Bray introduces the family to the law of attraction. “The more you think about something, the more you draw it to you.” He explains that “your thoughts attract things with a force you cannot see.” As things start to fall into place for this down on their luck family, you may just start to believe that one must be an open receptor to good things, or else they will pass you by.

Through its message of hope, this heartwarming film shows how positive thoughts can transform lives.  The film is uplifting but falls a little flat overall. Perhaps the Secret would have been adding a little more pizzaz between Holmes and Lucas. I didn’t feel the chemistry and that is a shame because these are two of the fine actors on screen today.
