Winter Fun: Blues Buster Read Aloud and Cocoa Chat-
Gloomy days can put a frown on even the happiest kid’s face. Heat up some hot cocoa, put in a bunch of marshmallows and read “Pablo Gets the Grumps” out loud. This sweet picture book by Natalia Shaloshvili touches upon big feelings in a gentle way. It reminds us that no matter how grumpy we get, friends and family are there to turn the day around.
There are so many other books that ignite insightful conversations with the kids. Here are a few of our favorites that we read this past year:
Good Hair by Yvonne Sewankambo- Explores the power of self-love and revels in the unique beauty of everyone no matter what their hair type.
Just Like Millie by Lauren Castillo- Explores themes of shyness and anxiety.
Together by Laura Manaresi- In a world where people are often divided by perceived differences, it can be easy to forget all the commonalities we share. This gentle book reminds us that we are stronger together.
Winter Fun: Wildlife Lovers Tea Time-
Make some chai or boba tea together and take a “Virtual journey” around nature. There is so much to learn about the animal kingdom but learning does not have to be boring. Read a little, chat a little, snack a little and dish the tea ro create a fun, informative afternoon!

Wildlife Crossings by Catherine Barr is a a compelling picture book about threatened animal species around the world, among them elephants, hedgehogs, spoon-billed sandpipers, gibbons, salmon, grizzly bears, and cougars.
The Den That Octopus Built by Randi Sonenshine- Did you know that octopuses have nine brains, including one in each of their independently operating arms? You are going to learn so much in this fun, colorfully illustrated read.
