Everyone loves spending A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood with Mister Rogers.

Remember the good o’l days when you would look forward to watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood as you got ready for school or after school depending on what time he was on in your area? I’ve been thinking “We Could All Use A Little kindness,” couldn’t we? This is why I am thrilled that a new film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks as the iconic Mr. Fred Rogers is coming out this fall. Read on for a sneak peek and more info about the film!

Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. This is a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about kindness, love and forgiveness from America’s most beloved neighbor.

We were flipping through the channels recently looking for something to watch. We came across the PBS special Mister Rogers: It’s You I like. It was the perfect opportunity to reacquaint my tween with an old friend. It’s been a long time since he took a ride on the magical trolley and I think he forgot the magical feeling.

If you haven’t seen the special I highly recommend setting your DVR to record its next showing. Stars including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Sara Silverman and host Michael Keaton share their memories of everyone’s favorite neighborhood nice guy. It will be a nice prelude into A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
