Crayola has a lot to celebrate. The Iconic “Crayola 64 Box” is turning 64 years young and celebrating its golden birthday while looking as fresh and colorful as ever. Everyone’s favorite crayon is going all out with the celebrations.

As part of the fun, Crayola is launching a limited-edition Happy 64th Birthday Crayon Tin and a Limited-Edition Crayon Case. The celebration is going on now but you can celebrate all year long with free printables courtesy of Crayola.  Read on to see how you can join in on the festivities and get yours!

The History Of The Crayloa 64 Box:

According to the Smithsonian Institute crayons were invented in 1903 by Edwin Binney and C. Harold Smith. The cousin duo founded the Binney & Smith Co. of Easton, Pa. One of the earliest sets consisted of 28 colors for “artists”. In 1958, the Crayola No. 64 became Binney & Smith’s largest regular assortment until 1992 when they introduced the 96 Big Box. To celebrate their hundredth anniversary in 2003, Crayola introduced the special 100 count box adding 4 new colors to their mix.

Limited Edition Crayon Boxes and Tins:

The Happy 64^th Birthday Collection will include eight special effect confetti crayons! The special tin will be available at Walmart while the crayon case will be available throughout August at Family Dollar. Families will also be able to find commemorative birthday crayon boxes at crayola.com.  The The 64-count crayons tin will also feature a special QR code on the back of the box that  leads to a 64th Birthday Sweepstakes. 64 sweepstakes winners will receive the limited-edition crayon box with 16 winners chosen each week between June 13-July 8. Five random entries will also be chosen at the end of the sweepstakes to win a celebration swag box.

More Fun:

Beginning on July 14, families can take part in a month-long event in the Crayola Create and Play app featuring themed activities, new content, and exclusive rewards.
