Darkness Falling – Volume 3 of the Soul Riders Trilogy

Darkness Falling is the final installment of the empowering Soul Riders trilogy by Helena Dahlgren.

Soul Riders is a tween aged fantasy book series based on the successful Star Stable game. The adventurous series evolves around friendship, horses and magic.

The Soul Riders series tells the story of four young girls known as the Soul Riders (Anne, Lisa, Alex and Linda.) Destiny chooses riders to join the special sisterhood and embark on a dangerous adventure to save the world. The books emphasize the struggle between light and dark, good and bad.

The three books in the series, Jorvik Calling , The Legend Awakens and Darkness Falling are the stuff that tween girls’ dreams are made of.  After all, who doesn’t crave adventure, friendship and a loyal pet-companion who truly “gets” you? Can the Soul Riders succeed against an ancient evil being who wields great dark power? There are no detailed spoilers here but if you haven’t read the first two books in the series I suggest you trot on over to the bookstore or use my affiliate links and get your copies before reading on.

Darkness Falling Review

Darkness falling is a thrilling adventure. The fate of the world is resting on one final ride.  The Soul Riders need to unite in sisterhood to take back the reigns of destiny and extinguish the darkness. Mr. Sands’ sinister plans are threatening to destroy life on Jorvik. Only the Soul Riders have the power to stop him but they must first race against time and learn to master magic.

Darkness falling is an example of unwavering courage. The four heroines will inspire young readers to believe in their own magic as well as stand up for justice.  One of my favorite lines in the book comes in the epilogue towards the end: “At the same time, evil by nature is unrestrained. We see that everywhere-not just in Jorvik,  How evil begets evil, how cluelessness allows it to thrive. It is so tempting to avert one’s gaze, pretend not to notice. But that’s just what the evil wants.”

In light of the chaos in the world these past few years, I keep thinking about this quote.  Darkness Falling promotes inner strength.  Just maybe if we all believed in ourselves a little more we’d garner the courage to always do what is right.  Every girl…no… everyone can be a hero in their own individual way if they can cultivate their inner magic and just believe in themselves.

I’m hoping to see more Soul Riders books in the future,  After reading, I’m sure your tweens will too,  Until then remind them daily: You are strong.  Believe in yourself. Your strength comes from within and you can be the hero of your own adventure.
