Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Review

Fantastic! Is this the perfect way to describe Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore? Read our review to find out.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore delivers a visually stunning adventure. The third film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise is markedly better than it’s predecessor “Crimes of Grindelwald”. The film whisks you into the Wizarding World faster than a brand new Nimbus 2001!

Newt is back and as quirky and endearing as ever. Jude Law is terrific as Dumbledore but Jessica Williams’ Lally is the character to watch in this film. The witch and professor of charms puts a spell on the audience from the first moment she appears on screen. Lally is the character we never knew we needed in the Potterverse. Shes’ smart, sassy and fierce! I wish they writers would have done even more with the character.

No spoilers here but the beasts are as exotic and amazing as ever. There are never enough fantastic creatures stuffed into Newt’s briefcase! Wait until you meet his new friends (and more than a few not so friendly critters) who appear throughout the film. Like Lally, I wish the beasts had more screen time especially Pickett (the Bowtruckle) that no one can ever get enough of.

This is the third film in the Fantastic Beasts “trilogy” however the ending leaves the door open for more adventures!  I saw a review that referred to the film as “DumbleBORE” but I disagree.  The film is full of The action scenes were full of wand to wand combat. While there is no need to watch the Harry Potter films to see this film you must watch the prior Fantastic Beasts films to understand this one. Go ahead make some pop corn, grab your magic wand and enter the Potterverse.  No these films aren’t Shakespeare and they have flaws. Where are you Johnny Depp but they are entertaining.  You are in for a fantasy filled adventure so enjoy the ride.
