National Geographic has not one but two books that are top of the list for any dad:

The Photo Ark-

The Photo Ark: One Man’s Quest to document the world’s animals by Joel Sartore is by far the most beautiful photo book you will ever read. The “Ark” features studio style portraits of more than 400 animals. Sartore has photographed more than 6,000 species to inspire people to take action to protect the planet’s most precious gifts. It’s taken 10 years and he won’t stop until he photographs the estimated 12,000 species under human care. You can keep track of the project at joelsartore.com/photo-ark.

My son has been enamored with animals since he was a baby. As a teen he has not lost his passion for earth’s most exquisite and vulnerable. He realizes that half of the animal species may be extinct by the time his children are adults.  Looking through this book with him has been a wonder.  It is a gift to experience the creatures up close and look into their eyes. We can only hope that Sartore’s vision inspires others to care enough to advocate for the voiceless. The foreword by Harrison Ford is a particular treat for an Indiana Jones fan like myself.
